More information about Grins of Divinity

Grins of Divinity first started out as a video game project by Vincent Audette-Chapdelaine, a French-Canadian writer and video game designer in conjunction with a team of international volunteers specializing in various aspects of sound, graphics, and site enhancements. Grins of Divinity is a add-on total conversion of the 1996 Duke Nukem 3d video game wildly popular in the 1990's. I first became involved when the designer interviewed me for a science book "The Intruder Bulletins" I wrote three years ago. As fortune has it he later asked me to help write the ebook novella version of the game for fans to enjoy.

Ebooks as a device and phenomena are still relevatively new to the public. The industry is in its infancy stages primarily because they have not decided on what universal format to adopt. The situation is akin to the old VHS versus Beta struggle in the early 1980's--only more complicated! Three years ago there were 12 formats to choose from; now there are about four The most popular and dominate Microsoft's Reader with Clear Type. A number of publishers including 5DollarEbooks.com are using a variation of the Windows version which is still popular, easy to use and extremely affordable. Thankfully, this publisher is pioneering the additional use of PayPal (usually used in Ebay auctioneering) for safe and speedy check and credit card transactions.

There are many advantages of ebooks compared to paper books. I will outline a few to help you understand the wonderful uses for this exciting new development in publishing and reading.

1.Ebooks tend to be cheaper to purchase.
2.Ebooks tend to be more cutting edge in viewpoint.
3.Ebooks pay a better royalty rate to the writer
4.Ebooks do not kill trees to produce books.
5.Ebooks have unique options such as zoom features
for the visually-deficient, find features, auto
book-marking, etc.

None of this goes without saying that ebook publishers and writers are not interested in "killing" the paper book. Nor are they in some war with traditional publishing outlets. Basically the ebook industry is an outgrowth of the hyper-commercialization of the publishing industry which has now produced only the safe, acceptable and most typically common-denominator material. If you are not famous, well-connected, notorious or infamous, your chances of getting published are next to nil.
